Fungus Gnats
- Flies belonging to the Order Diptera
- Infest soil, larvae feed on organic matter & roots, causing stunted plant growth
- Both larvae and adults can spread pathogens, though adults are primarily a nuisance
- Can be a serious greenhouse pest
- Dark & fragile looking, most species are 1/8” to 1/16” long
- Not very strong fliers, not typically found flying inside of houses
- When large infestations occur, fungus gnat larvae can leave slime trails
